Industry4WRD Readiness Assessment Process

With the advent of Industry 4.0 globally, the Malaysian government has formulated the National Policy on Industry 4.0 (Industry4WRD) as a proactive measure to transform the Malaysian manufacturing industry and its related services to be ready and gain the maximum benefits from it.

Towards this end, a national Readiness Assessment (RA) Programme has been established as a tool for conducting assessment, sharing local and best practices, supporting the development of local firms and identifying national Industry 4.0 objectives.

It is a comprehensive programme to help companies assess their capabilities and readiness to adopt the Industry 4.0 technologies and processes. The assessment employs a set of indicators to understand their present capabilities and gaps. From the results of the RA, strategies and plans will be devised to help the companies involved move towards achieving Industry 4.0.

In this article, we discuss the step-by-step process from applying for the RA to the assessment and production of the report.

Process of obtaining Funding:

1. Online application can be done via www.miti.gov.my/industry4wrd or www.mpc.gov.my/industry4wrd. Alternatively, applicants can download the M-Productivity app and click on Industry4WRD.

2. Applicants have to undergo a pre-qualification assessment (Pre-Q) and submission.

3. After that, they will receive the Technical (TC) and Steering (SC) Committees’ decision and endorsement.

4. Next, there will be an RA on-site visit, with minimum two days and two auditors.

5. An RA report will be received for endorsement by the TC and SC. This report will be valid for six months.

6. Interested companies can apply for an intervention programme.

7. This application is subject to the endorsement of the TC and SC.

8. The intervention will take one year, with quarterly progress reports produced.

9. The programme concludes when the TC and SC accept the intervention report.
