This year, the Malaysian government launched a brand new national policy, the National Entrepreneurship Policy 2030, to bolster and provide a guideline on the government’s efforts on entrepreneurship at a national level. Following up on that, the Ministry of Entrepreneurship Development has introduced the inaugural Minggu Usahawan Nasional (MUN) from 29th August to 1st September 2019 in Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), Serdang, Selangor.
The Minggu Usahawan Nasional is an initiative by the Ministry to integrate the entrepreneurship ecosystem which encapsulates the numerous entrepreneurship activities and programmes across the ministries and their agencies as well as the private sector. In addition to that, it aims to be a catalyst and roadmap towards the ultimate objective of reaching the Entrepreneurship Nation with the implementation of the National Entrepreneurship Policy 2030.
The week-long event will comprise of a platform featuring a variety of activities such as product showcase and sale, business matching, interactive pocket talk sessions, entrepreneurship seminars, consultancy services for entrepreneurs as well as other stakeholders. The key highlights of the week are the Satu Daerah Satu Industry (SDSI) which focuses on SDSI entrepreneurs from five main clusters and the inaugural Women Entrepreneurs’ Convention 2019, an effort to directly acknowledge the role of women in entrepreneurship development as a whole through relevant programmes.
Targeting Malaysians from all walks of life with a focus on target groups from current and aspiring entrepreneurs, students as well as special groups, the Minggu Usahawan Nasional also includes programmes such as the INSKEN Outreach, Jualan Harga Patut and talks featuring panellists from SME Bank, IKM. In addition to that, Malaysia Kitchen dan Rakyat Run are also held exclusively during the event.
The Minggu Usahawan Nasional 2019 will act as a benchmark for future entrepreneurship programmes across both government and the private sector. It also aspires to act as a bridge between the two, with hopes that the collaboration between the two sectors will give rise to strategic partnerships among all the stakeholders within the entrepreneurship ecosystem as a whole.
