IGEM 2017 : Powering Green Cities, a Testament to Malaysia’s Green Objective
TL;DR – The International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference 2017 (IGEM 2017) themed Powering Green Cities showcased green technology efforts consistent with UN’s Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals or SDG’s is a set of 17 “Global Goals” spearheaded by the United Nations in 2015. In conjunction with both Goal 7: Affordable And Clean Energy and Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, matches this year’s IGEM (International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia) themed “ Powering Green Cities”, focusing on creating living areas that are ecologically-sound, future-ready and, green. IGEM is a bridge to connect producers to consumers that wants to incorporate a green lifestyle.

IGEM 2017 features 320 international and regional exhibitors including AL-CO Malaysia, Aion Co. Ltd, Atlantic Blue, BSL Eco Energy, Construction Research Institute of Malaysia, Ditrolic, Esona Technologies, First Solar Malaysia, G & C Sunrise, Gading Kencana, Hanwha Q-Cell, Itramas Manufacturing, JA Solar Malaysia, Japan External Trade Organization, Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute, Kubota Environmental Services, Malaysia Timber Certification Council, Pekat Engineering, SIRIM QAS International, Taiwan External Trade Development Council, Beijing Eastyida International and Zhejiang Jinko Solar.

The exhibition, held in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 11 to 13 October 2017 occupied 4 halls. Hall 1 consists 9 Malaysian State Pavilions that promotes the state’s achievements and projects.

Goal 7: Affordable  and Clean Energy

As part of sustainable energy, SEDA (Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia) engages in energy efficiency and energy demand management activities specifically in energy management and low carbon building facilitation programme. Low carbon facilitation programme is a practical sustainable energy solutions to reduce carbon emission in buildings using simple and affordable method promoted by SEDA Malaysia.

Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

The new Toshiba Hybrid MFP is the world’s first multifunction systems with erasable print function. The device prints regular as well as reusable prints which saves paper. It was designed for businesses which want to combine ecology, economy and efficiency. Printing has never been this green.

This exhibition is an opportunity for businesses to pitch their products and share knowledge on a green and efficient lifestyle with the visitors.
